Fradar is for finding each other when the group is there but can't connect: you create a time-boxed radar, invite with a QR code, and share location only inside that session. It lives on iOS and Android, with a web view for guests — and when the time runs out, sharing switches itself off.
A radar starts from a QR code, a short invite code, or a link, and has a duration you set up front: 1, 3, 5, or 7 hours, for up to 15 people. Joining takes consent plus a temporary name and colour. When the session ends, sharing shuts off on its own — it's built to stay tied to the moment, not to stay open. And if an invite spreads too far, regenerate it: the old one dies instantly.
The main view is a full-screen radar: rings, a sweep, member signals, distance, direction, accuracy, and how recent each last position is. When someone stops updating, their signal fades — you always know how much to trust what you see. The map stays optional during the active group; the radar is enough to know which way to move.
Find mode reduces the interface to an arrow, a name, and a distance: pick one person and walk toward them without distraction. The meeting point is for when everyone's moving at once — drop a named spot with an emoji, and everyone answers Coming or Not coming with one tap.
On iOS, a Live Activity keeps your target on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: name, live distance, direction, time left, and a mini radar. On Android, a persistent notification shows your target — with a Stop sharing action always one tap away.
From afar, GPS gives the rough bearing — and it can drift among buildings and crowds, so Fradar shows its real accuracy instead of pretending. Up close, your phones start talking to each other: Bluetooth LE ranging works across iPhone and Android under about 40 m; ultra-wideband adds distance and direction on compatible phones under about 30 m; a barometer tells floors apart, and the group's own mesh fills the gaps. It gets you close — the last metre you cover by sight.
Your flash pulses so friends can spot you above the crowd — or ask a friend to light theirs. One tap to accept, one to ignore.
Anyone without the app can join from the QR with a stripped-down web view: enough to follow the radar, see the active group, and reach the meeting point. Guest sessions are shorter, up to 3 hours, so nobody stays connected by accident. Lock Screen reading and fine UWB/Bluetooth precision need the installed app.
Contexts tune update rates and radar range for the venue you're in — a festival field isn't a basement club. Battery saver slows everything down gracefully, and day and night themes keep the screen readable on beaches and in basements.
Inside a group, other members see only your temporary name, colour, latest shared position, accuracy, and presence state — nothing more, and only there. Location is shared only during an active group and with your consent; you can stop it at any moment, instantly. On Android, Stop lives in the notification itself.
The creator covers the radar with credits — 18 per participant per hour — and everyone else joins free, from the app or the browser. Packs of 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 credits never expire, and a free tier (2 participants, 1 hour, up to twice a week) is enough to try it for real. While Fradar is in beta, payments are off.
Fradar is in private beta on iOS (17 or later) and Android, with the web view for guests on any modern browser. It's fully localized in English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, and Japanese — including right-to-left layouts. Groups can be as mixed as the crowd.
